Teenage Boy Feigns Arrest, Demands 50 Million Ransom From Parents

The Delta State Police Command has arrested Nelson Eserada, a 400-level Banking & Finance student at Delta State University, Abraka, for faking his own kidnapping.

Eserada demanded a ransom of fifty million naira (N50,000,000) in bitcoin from his father.

The police revealed that his father had already paid five million naira through a bitcoin account belonging to Eserada's accomplice, Jerry Lawrence.

Delta State Police spokesperson Bright Edafe disclosed that the suspects are in custody and under investigation.

Edafe explained that the suspect's father reported the kidnapping, which included a video of Eserada tied and being tortured.

Acting on this information, the police arrested Lawrence in Warri.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the kidnapping was staged by Eserada and Lawrence, who received the ransom.

Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda urged parents to properly raise their children to prevent such incidents and warned youths against pursuing quick riches through crime, noting that it ultimately does not pay.
