 The price hike, exceeding 120% in recent months, has prompted consumers to explore these alternatives, commonly used in preparing local stews and dishes. 

Many, like Folake Aturamu in Lagos, have adapted recipes by replacing fresh tomatoes with cayenne pepper and tomato paste to maintain desired flavors and thickness without incurring higher costs.
