WHY DSTV, GOTV Is Loosing Nigerians To New Replacement

The cost of purchasing an SLTV decoder has risen, with many Nigerians turning to this satellite TV option as a more affordable alternative to Multichoice's DSTV and GOTV.

On June 17, Onyeka David, an SLTV vendor, shared on Facebook that the company had run out of stock due to high demand from Nigerians.

David, based in Owerri, noted that previously, the SLTV decoder was priced at N45,000, but it is now sold at N35,000.

He wrote: "...When the decoder was not in stock, it was sold for N45,000, showing its high demand. Now that it is available again and manufacturing costs have increased, the SLTV decoder will be sold at 35k, with the subscription price remaining at 5k."

Speaking on Friday, July 5, Anoruo Ikenna Kingsley, the director of Ikekings Integrated Services and a decoder installer in Owerri, confirmed that the SLTV decoder is now both costly and scarce.

He mentioned that his vendor sells the SLTV decoder alone for N42,000. In his words: "Decoder is scarce and costly. My vendor sells it for 42k for the decoder alone."
