RCCG Pastor Not Suspended - Sources Reveal

Reports swirled on social media yesterday about the suspension of Senior Pastor Idowu Iluyomade of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Region 20.

However, it has been learned that he was simply transferred to another parish.

Despite rumors suggesting a three-month suspension, a church insider clarified that he was reassigned to Throne of Grace, Ebute Metta, Lagos, the mission's headquarters.

This transfer was officially announced during the monthly thanksgiving service on June 2, 2024, across all RCCG parishes. Pastor Iluyomade will now serve as the Pastor-in-Charge of elders at RCCG Region 1, Ebute Metta.

Expressing dissatisfaction at not reaching the retirement age of 70, Pastor Iluyomade's departure led to Pastor Charles Kpandei of RCCG Resurrection Parish, Region 11, assuming his former role.

Both pastors were due for transfers after eight years in their respective parishes.

The changes, a norm within RCCG, are unrelated to recent controversies surrounding the City of David Parish. Despite attempts to reach Iluyomade for comment, they were unsuccessful.

The parish had faced scrutiny following the 60th birthday celebration of Siju Iluyomade, just nine days after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, a major parish financier, and his family in a helicopter crash.

This incident reportedly drew disapproval from RCCG's General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye.
