In a press conference in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba emphasized the urgency of this demand.
He stated ed that Ari attempted to subvert Nigeria's constitutional democracy by declaring the candidate of the defeated All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner during the ongoing collation of results in the April 15, 2023, election.
Ologunagba described Ari's actions as a "civilian coup" that undermined national sovereignty, caused a crisis in Adamawa State, and threatened national peace and security.
Despite his removal by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the lawful declaration of Governor Ahmed Fintiri, Ari has evaded capture.
A warrant for Ari's arrest was issued by the High Court of Justice of Adamawa State on May 21, 2024, and received by the Inspector General of Police on May 23, 2024.
The PDP argues that failure to promptly prosecute Ari sets a dangerous precedent, encouraging impunity among public officials.
The party urged the Inspector General of Police to comply with the court order, arrest Ari, and ensure he faces trial, amidst concerns that Ari may flee the country to evade justice.
The PDP insists Ari must be held accountable to uphold democracy and the rule of law.
