Why I Wasn't Surprised When They Made Me Coach - Kompany

Vincent Kompany was officially presented as Bayern Munich’s new coach on Thursday, stating that he was not surprised by the appointment despite the reaction from the football world. 

Kachiblog further reports that the decision by Bayern to hire the 38-year-old former Manchester City defender was unexpected, especially after his Burnley team was relegated from the Premier League two weeks ago.

Kompany addressed the media in both German and English, explaining that his perceived surprise stemmed from assumptions about his private nature. 

He mentioned that while the initial call was surprising, it did not come from Bayern.

Kompany replaces Thomas Tuchel after Bayern's unsuccessful attempts to hire Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann, and Austria’s Ralf Rangnick.

 He outlined his vision for Bayern, stating  bravery, personality, and aggressiveness, traits he wants his players to embody.

Kompany began his managerial career at Anderlecht after a successful playing career, which included captaining Manchester City and the Belgian national team.

 He moved to Burnley in 2022, leading them to Premier League promotion before their subsequent relegation.
