JUST IN: Nigerian Judges Locked Out Of Court As NLC, NUC Begins Strike

Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) locked out judges, lawyers, staff, and litigants from accessing courts in Abuja on Monday.

 This action follows the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress's (TUC) directive to commence a strike.Court activities at the Maitama Division of the FCT, the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court were completely halted as JUSUN members blocked the gates.

 Security guards and police officers were present, but entry was denied to all, including journalists.

Samuel Ikpatt, chairman of the FHC chapter of JUSUN, confirmed their total compliance with the NLC directive, stating no court was in session.

 Similarly, Mohammed Danjuma-Yusuf, treasurer of the JUSUN chapter at the Court of Appeal, reported a 100% shutdown across all 20 branches of the Court of Appeal.

The NLC and TUC declared the indefinite strike starting June 3 following stalled negotiations with the government over the minimum wage issue.
