JUST IN: National Assembly Advances Major Bill for South East Revitalization

Abuja – The National Assembly has successfully passed the First Reading of a bill to establish the South East Erosion Control Commission.

Sponsored by Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, the bill aims to tackle the severe erosion issues in Nigeria's South East region.

Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, representing the Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal constituency, introduced the bill to create and implement comprehensive strategies to combat the erosion that has ravaged farmlands, homes, and infrastructure in the area.

The proposed commission will provide a structured framework to manage and mitigate erosion, thereby protecting the environment and the livelihoods of affected communities.

Having passed the First Reading, the bill will now proceed through the legislative process, including further readings, debates, and considerations.
