Aminu Babba DanAgundi, a former senior councillor of the Kano Emirate, filed a lawsuit challenging his removal without consent by the state government.
His lawyer, Barrister M. A Waziri, argued that the court has the jurisdiction to hear the case, claiming his client was denied a fair hearing before the deposition of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and his own removal, thus violating his rights.
Waziri also contended that the procedures leading to Sanusi’s reinstatement were illegal and therefore invalid.Conversely, Barrister Muhamud A. Magaji, representing Sanusi, urged the court to dismiss the claim of jurisdiction.
He maintained that the State House of Assembly has the authority to amend or repeal laws as needed without consulting the plaintiff.
Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, presiding over the case, noted that the court is addressing two key applications: one on jurisdiction and another to overturn the order halting Sanusi's reinstatement.
