This follows an initial six-month tenure granted to the transition committees in December 2023, which expired in June 2024.
During the June 6, 2024 plenary session, the Assembly extended the committees' terms for another six months, pending local government council elections.
This decision came after adopting the report from the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, presented by Committee Chairman Mfon Idung, representing Etim-Ekpo/Ika State Constituency.
The report's adoption motion was moved by Bassy Pius Bassey, representing Okobo, and seconded by Dr. Itorobong Etim, representing Uruan State Constituency.
The House then convened as a Committee of the Whole to review and unanimously adopt the recommendations.
Chief Whip Effiong Johnson, representing Mbo State Constituency, moved to adopt the Committee of the Whole's report, with Deputy Leader Otobong Bob seconding.
