According to the state anti-drug agency, Ms. Lungu could not reasonably explain how she acquired a $30,000 estate in the city.
Former President Edgar Lungu announced that the family will challenge the allegations in court, accusing the government of targeting him and his Patriotic Front (PF) party to hinder his political resurgence ahead of the 2026 elections.
Mr. Lungu also claimed he was under house arrest due to his political activities, which the government denied.
Last September, his wife faced corruption charges related to car theft and title deeds, which she denied.
