A prominent APC chieftain, Jesutega Onokpasa, disclosed that certain appointees within President Bola Tinubu's circle are allegedly scheming for the presidency before his tenure concludes, even expressing desires for Tinubu's demise before 2027.
Onokpasa, a lawyer and former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, condemned what he perceived as anti-party activities and curses those wishing ill upon Tinubu.
He revealed the ongoing controversies surrounding figures like Yahaya Bello and Nasir El-Rufai, attributing them to the purported succession plans of these appointees.
Onokpasa accused them of orchestrating attacks against prominent party members to further their ambitions while undermining Tinubu's leadership.
Expressing dismay over the treatment of loyalists and the elevation of dissenting voices within the party, Onokpasa warned against the marginalization of those who supported Tinubu's presidency.
He spoke on Tinubu's divine mandate and predicted his continued leadership beyond 2027, cautioning those plotting against him.
Onokpasa's fervent defense of Tinubu extended to his condemnation of alleged high-handedness and interference in internal party matters by certain appointees.
He called for adherence to due process in addressing issues such as corruption allegations, advocating for unity within the party and unwavering support for Tinubu's leadership aspirations.
Referring to a particular appointee of Tinubu whose name was not mentioned, the chieftain said, “You drive Rufai away, you start hounding Ganduje, although there are other things involved, you start attacking Yahaya Bello, what did you do? You don’t have mandate my friend, you are just an appointee… you think we don’t know what is going on?
“Listen, Asiwaju is a child of God. Asiwaju will rule this country for eight complete years. There is nothing anybody can do about that. He will rule this first four years, he will so perform, Nigerians, again, will vote for him and next time around, we will win a majority of the total votes cast. So, all these your satanic plans, plotting that our President will not make it to 2027, you are wasting your time. Get that through your head.”
