Liverpool Football Club announces that Arne Slot has agreed to become the club’s new head coach, starting June 1, 2024, pending a work permit.
The 45-year-old will join from Feyenoord ahead of the 2024-25 season, succeeding Jürgen Klopp, who will step down at the end of the current campaign.
Slot led Feyenoord to a league title in 2023 and was twice named Eredivisie Manager of the Year.
Recently, he won the KNVB Cup with a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen.Previously, Slot coached AZ Alkmaar to second place in the 2019-20 season, which was cut short due to COVID-19.
As a player, he was a midfielder for FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle, retiring in 2013.
Slot will be Liverpool's first head coach from the Netherlands, with pre-season starting in July.
