Adamawa LG Candidate Accused of Submitting Forged Certificate Amidst Bribery Allegations

The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has confirmed that Barrister Shallom Dangi Kassa submitted a forged certificate while seeking clearance for the July 13 local council election. 

Zenald Love, the ADSIEC Commissioner of Research, Planning and Publicity, disclosed this on Monday.

Despite a DSS report confirming the certificate's forgery, the Commission could not disqualify Kassa due to legal constraints, as only the court has the authority to disqualify candidates.

Allegations arose that Kassa bribed the Commission with N10 million to be cleared. 

Love stated he had informed relevant authorities and filed a petition to the DSS, which verified the certificate’s falsity.

A group petitioned the ADSIEC chairman, detailing Kassa’s use of a forged secondary school certificate to gain admission to the University of Maiduguri, later using it throughout his career. 

The certificate number allegedly belonged to a deceased individual, Shanya Farbina.

 The petitioners urged the Commission to disqualify Kassa, who is also under EFCC investigation for corruption.

Kassa denied the forgery allegations and ended the conversation abruptly.
