SUNDAY WEEKLY: What is wrong with my goal?

Two years ago, I was confused about my life, my goals, because I felt like everything I was doing was not working out.

I cried and was depressed, staying off social media for months, trying to find myself.

Many people thought it was relationship issues, but only I knew I felt held back concerning my goals.

I  began to meet high-standard people, both in the world and in the church, and they all wanted to sleep with me.

I was frustrated because I was making an effort and was confused about direction.

One fateful night, my current pastor posted something on Instagram.

It read, "Heaven helps those who cannot help themselves."

I had been living by the popular quote "Heaven helps those who help themselves."

Now understand this:

Genuine Christians don't follow "Heaven helps those who help themselves."

They follow only God's lead.

This doesn't give us an excuse to be lazy but changes our mindset that our own effort is not what determines our success in life as Christains.

People of the world believe that just by their effort, they will attain success in life, and it most times work out for them but as Christians, a lot of things work differently.

In Christianity, we have what we call favor.

Favor is the direct opposite of attaining success in life because of your own effort.

Favor is trusting God for direction and emptying your mind concerning your own will because you have come to understand that your life is not yours.

"For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield." Psalm 5:12.

Favor is walking with God and looking attractive in the sight of your helpers after God's hand has intervened.

Have you noticed that some people help you even when you have not made too much effort to beg them for help? That is favor.

Have you also noticed that sometimes you will apply for a job and despite the fact that you are not qualified, you are added to the list? That is favor.

Have you noticed that sometimes you will be waiting for a bus to take you home and a bus just comes as if it came directly for you? That is favor.

Favor comes in things that we consider little because we live in the flesh instead of the spirit and we overlook those things because we are only looking for big things as proof.

God is working for all Christains in a way we don't even believe that he is actually the one.

If he works when you don't even believe in him, how much more will he work when you truly believe that he is the only living God that can help set your goals right?

Are you asking amiss or you just need to wait a little for your goal list to be met?

For every Christain, it is one of those things.

Trusting that your life is going well because of your own effort is not a quality of a Christian.

A sign that a Christian has a relationship with God is understanding that He alone has the perfect wisdom to keep you in the right direction, lead you to people who will positively affect you, and satisfy your needs at His right time.

I was frustrated because I believed my life was determined by my own effort, but when I realized Christ, I understood that trusting in your own knowledge and effort in Christianity will never yield divine results.

Only the Lord can lead you in a way that you won't have to compromise before attaining true prosperity.
