At just 22 years old, Tyla became the youngest African artist to receive a Grammy.
On Monday, she added another accolade by winning Best New Artist at the BET Awards, triumphing over Ayra Starr, 4Batz, Bossman Dlow, Fridayy, October London, and Sexyy Red.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Tyla dedicated her win to Africa, acknowledging the African stars who paved the way before her and didn't have the same opportunities.
She also secured the Best International Act award, surpassing Asake, Ayra Starr, Aya Nakamura (France), and other global artists.Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Tems, and Seyi Vibes also garnered nominations in categories yet to be announced.
