Fubara Removes Top Wike's Ally From Position

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed Chidi Awuse from his position as Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Awuse, a known ally of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been replaced by Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, the traditional ruler of Apara Kingdom.

Governor Fubara cited inactivity and ineffective leadership as reasons for Awuse's removal.

He stated a specific incident where the council, under Awuse, produced a calendar for 2024 that omitted the photographs of the Governor and Deputy Governor, which he interpreted as a deliberate insult to the state government.

At a special meeting with the council in Port Harcourt, Fubara stated the need for active and responsible leadership to ensure harmony and coexistence among the people.

He expressed confidence that Wodo, with his integrity and leadership qualities, would fulfill these expectations.
