JUST IN: Altman Denies OpenAI Launching Google Search Competitor Rumors

Sam Altman has refuted claims of OpenAI's intention to develop a competitor to Google Search, asserting that something different is underway. As the pioneer of AI, OpenAI's ChatGPT has mesmerized users worldwide since its debut in 2022, sparking a surge in AI interest. 

While competition in the AI chatbot realm has intensified with the emergence of rivals like Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude, Altman dismissed recent reports suggesting OpenAI's venture into search technology.

Speculation had swirled about OpenAI's alleged plans to unveil a Google Search alternative ahead of Google I/O, slated for May 13. 

However, Altman's statement contradicts these rumors, hinting instead at forthcoming updates related to ChatGPT.

 Despite dispelling the notion of a new search engine or GPT-5, Altman teased a significant announcement scheduled for Monday at 10 am PT, promising an unveiling of innovations that "feels like magic."Altman's recent remarks extend beyond debunking rumors, as he reaffirms OpenAI's commitment to advancing artificial general intelligence (AGI), regardless of the financial investment required. 

Addressing students at Stanford University, Altman stated the imperative of AGI development, asserting a willingness to allocate substantial resources towards this ambitious goal.
