At that time, I had recently backslid and, instead of seeking God, I craved attention.
They treated me the same as everyone else but didn't give me much attention.One day, I got angry and stopped attending the fellowship.
Meanwhile, they were acquainted with the owner of the house where I was staying, so they would sometimes visit and pray with her.
Whenever they saw me, they would invite me to return to their gatherings.When I eventually regained my faith, I realized something important: Christianity is about pleasing the Lord first and foremost.
Many people prioritize pleasing others over pleasing God, which causes us to stray from His will.
The first challenge new Christians often face is the temptation to please people rather than God.
According to Galatians 1:10 King James Version (KJV)
"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ".
When accepting Christ Jesus into your life for the first time, the initial mistake we often make is acting based on what we believe is right due to our moral understanding.
This can lead to errors.
Christianity is not based on human morals but on the power of God.
Sometimes, the Lord will ask you to do things that your conscience might condemn.
This might seem strange, but you will understand it as you grow in your faith.
Referring to the earlier story, if those fervent brothers had relied solely on their consciences instead of the power of God, they might have fallen into sin.
I'm not saying you should ignore your conscience, but there will be times when you need to prioritize God's will to save your soul.
There are people whom the Lord has used in your life.
However, if you rely only on your conscience and fail to recognize God's power, you might stay around these people out of gratitude, missing the moment when it’s time to move on.
It's not wrong to show gratitude, but don’t let anyone draw you away from God, regardless of what they have done for you.
When accepting Christ Jesus into your life for the first time, the first mistake we make is we begin to do things we think is right due to morals and that is where we begin to make mistake.
Christainity as a way of life is not based on morals but by the power of God.
That is why there are some things the lord will ask you to do that your conscience condemn. Strange right? In the course of salvation you will understand.
Concerning the narrated story above, if those vibrant brothers were moving according to only conscience instead of the power of God, they might have fallen into sin.
Note: I am not saying you should not pay attention to your conscience but I am just saying there are times that your conscience will have to be ignored to save your soul.
Points to Note:
1. Being a Christian doesn't mean you should strive to please everyone. God gave you a conscience for a reason, but while listening to your conscience, also pay attention to the Spirit of Christ within you. The best way to hear God's voice clearly is by continuously reading His word.
2. Choosing your friends wisely as a Christian does not make you condemned by God. Some people might make you feel unqualified to preach the word of God because you don't associate with them, but focus on what the Lord is telling you.
Final Note: Being a Christian means being at peace with all people, but the most important thing is to please God first. Others may try to create conflict, especially as you grow spiritually, but focus more on God's word than on human opinions.
Don't let those around you make you doubt whether you are following God's will during your spiritual journey.
None of us are perfect; we all have flaws. Don't let others' opinions condemn you.
Read God's word and understand that He is working on you.
